Since its founding, Saving Our Daughters’ Cinderella Program (co-founded by actress and singer, Keke Palmer), has had the honor of many young actors joining the program to mentor their peers. The young celebrity Godparents use their experiences on popular television shows and films, to instill valuable life lessons, using art.

The organization is thrilled to welcome fourteen-year old actress Kyliegh Curran to the Cinderella Program as one of their influential Celebrity Godparents in December. You can catch Kyliegh in Warner Bros.’ gripping supernatural thriller, “Doctor Sleep,” as the film continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in the classic, “The Shining.” At ten years old, Kyliegh landed a coveted role on Broadway, starring in the principal role of Young Nala in Disney’s award-winning musical “The Lion King.”  Next for Kyliegh is a starring role in Disney Channel’s upcoming series, “Sulphur Springs.”

On Wednesday December 11th, SOD was excited to have Kyliegh discuss her commitment to the arts and how to deter bullying to her younger peers at the amazing Ron Clark Academy, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Kyliegh also talked to her Cinderellas on how scary it was preparing for the “Doctor Sleep” film and how she prepared herself to dive into her character.

The RCA Cinderellas came ready and had many questions surrounding her character; to how to receive an agent for auditions.

Kyliegh also led the Cinderellas in a breathing exercise before they sang a few Christmas songs and the class ended with all of the RCA Cinderellas singing Happy Birthday to their Celebrity Godparent, Kyliegh. WOW!!

ABOUT KYLIEGH CURRAN

Fourteen-year-old newcomer Kyliegh Curran is poised to step into the spotlight, starring opposite Ewan McGregor in Warner Bros.’ gripping supernatural thriller, “Doctor Sleep.” The film is directed by Mike Flanagan from his own screenplay based upon Stephen King’s best-selling novel.

“Doctor Sleep” continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in the classic “The Shining.” Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance (Ewan McGregor) has fought to find some semblance of peace. At the heart of the story is Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran), a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson) and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before – at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

Next for Kyliegh is a starring role in Disney Channel’s upcoming show, “Sulphur Springs,” a live-action, time travel mystery series that takes place in a haunted hotel. She portrays ‘Harper,’ a bright-eyed, mystery obsessed teen whose classmate ‘Griffin’ has just moved into a hotel rumored to be haunted by a girl who went missing decades ago. Together, they discover a secret portal that allows them to travel back in time to investigate the unsolved mystery. Production is set to begin in early 2020 in New Orleans.

Kyliegh was born in Miami, FL on December 10, 2005 to Traci-Liegh Johnson and Shannon Curran. She is the granddaughter of esteemed writer and Professor Emeritus, Dr. Whittington B. Johnson.
